History of Luke Erickson
I grew up in a Christian home where both of my parents were strong believers and took me to church every Sunday morning, Sunday night, and Wednesday night. I was first introduced by the Gospel by my two older sisters when I was 6 and going through an AWANA lesson. I prayed to accept Christ that night, but truly did not walking in an active relationship with God until high school. It was then that my church got a new youth pastor and he mentored me and showed me how to truly seek Christ and pursue a relationship with Him. It was during that period that I felt God's leading into ministry. I spent 4 years at Huntington University pursuing a degree in Biblical Studies and graduated in May of 2007. While at Huntington I worked with Youth For Christ in a part-time role, overseeing ministry at Crestview Middle School. While I loved ministering to middle school students I felt that I was called to an older age group and did a lot of research on the need and effectiveness of college ministry which led me to pursue a position with InterVarsity Christian Fellowship.

About This Mission
InterVarsity is a ministry that is on 560 college campuses nationwide and was created to establish and advance at colleges and universities, witnessing communities of students and faculty who follow Jesus as Savior and Lord: growing in love for God, God's Word, God's people of every ethnicity and culture and God's purposes in the world.
I will specifically be working at the University of Illinois in their Urbana undergraduate chapter. I will be:
- Overseeing the small groups in a specific dormitory on the Urbana side of campus, where I will be able to encourage, correct, and be a resource to students who are small group leaders within that dormitory as well as build relationships with the students in that particular dorm.
- Leading a GIG (Groups Investigating God), a Bible study for non-believers who are open to investigating the Word of God.
- Mentoring a couple of young men who are students at Illinois and have been heavily involved with InterVarsity in their first couple years on campus.
- Helping plan, coordinate, and put on our weekly large group meetings
- Helping plan various conferences and retreats that we will be doing throughout the year.
Support This Mission
I am so excited about what God is going to do through this ministry at the University of Illinois and have heard many amazing stories about what He has done there in the past! I have committed to 2 years of service with InterVarsity at UIUC and to be able to do this ministry I must raise not only my salary, but also all of my budget expenses and benefits which include insurance, office rent, materials, travel expenses, etc. The total amount I must raise is $44,662 per year. I must be fully funded before I can begin working full-time. Please contact me by e-mail, phone, or snail mail if you wish to receive my bi-monthly updates or would like more information on a financial partnership.

Prayer Requests
Please be praying for:
- God to open the hearts and minds of college students at the University of Illinois and draw them to Himself.
- Strength, wisdom, and patience as I take on this new role in a brand new environment.
- That I would be sensitive to the Holy Spirit as far as who I should talk to and the words that I should say in all situations when interacting with students.
